Particle morphology, shape, and surface texture determine various engineering characteristics of granular (sand-like) soils. The easyquantification of shape characteristics and identification of their relationships with engineering properties, at times, can reduce the need for advanced laboratory testing and can help with rapid determination of material properties in civil engineering projects.
